Embroidered patches fading after wash.
« on: May 10, 2019, 03:49:10 PM »
I have a new client looking for some patches, and they sent me the attached photo.  Their current supplier did these for them, but they are unhappy with the fading of the thread in the red.

Is there anything I can do to ensure that this doesnt happen, or something that can be applied to the patches to prevent fading?

This is for a company that has uniforms and they launder them frequently.

Probably rayon thread it fades with cleaning. Have them made with poly thread.
My best guess, but i have seen this before.

I have seen it with Robison-Anton thread but even Madeira will give you this sometimes
if it is bleached. Not much you can do about it without knowing what process an industrial laundry
might be using. Madeira is the better choice and it must be poly and not rayon as cbjamel
suggested.

Just saying that even with poly the RA faded more than Madeira.

And, unless they changed, don't go near red RA with a spot gun.
