Saw a badly printed jersey this morning
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:01:18 AM »
I know this mom (friend of my sister who past away last spring) and she is getting team wear from me.  She wanted to get Jersey's from me to but they wanted a certain jersey that wasn't a normal supplier of mine and I told her she should just have them print it since it was cheaper to just have them do it.  Well somewhere down the line they changed their mind and decided to use an augusta jersey and use a guy out of state.  She brings it in this morning and it was pretty bad.  The ink was bullet proof, was about quarter inch thick and muddy.  One of the numbers was touching the design, and it was discolored in one spot.  I told her they should have called me back when they decided to switch jersey.

Anywho, this will make me look good when I give them there hoodies, shirts, ect.  Also, I may be redoing the jersey's too ;)

Blows me away what people think will pass as ok.  I have a lot misprints lying around cause I'm pretty picky.

I do a good amount of contract work for a local sports clothing company.  The last print they brought me was awful.  I think it was done by a printer in the NE area.  I have zero idea who, but they wanted to use a local printer.  The print was the same way...thick and smeared.  It was terrible.

I see the same thing, especially on numbers when the local teams bring me their pre-printed jerseys for names. I also often have to run my names off center because of the number position. We all know that sports leagues are notorious bottom feeders, often shopping for price alone.

Also, classically, real sports jerseys were printed thick, through lower mesh, with stretchy inks. Seems to be the last holdout.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

It did have 8% spandex in it.

Not all sports jobs, just the leagues. Of course, with shops that have 6 dozen minimums, it's leagues or nothing.
I find that lots of teams, go for the class, and actually spend more than I would.
League officials are often cheapskate, (or at least budget conscious) because they are controlling their bottom line, either to give more bang for the buck to participants, or to protect their salaries. Maybe both, lol!
