Old Epson Stylus Color 3000 Black print heads
« on: May 12, 2017, 12:41:46 PM »
Does anybody have a source for Epson Stylus Color 3000 black print heads? I can literally buy good used printer for less than what they want for a new (old stock) black print head.

Installing a printhead in the 3000 is a pain in the butt, and getting that sucker primed back up with ink is a killer.  If the black head is clogged and not print any ink I would take it out and let it soak in some solution over night and carefully install it back in, that might save you some money.

somewhere along the line I read that a 5000 head is the same as 3000 head but I can't find where I have that info saved :'(
However if you look below in the source detail there is some interchangeability. See the red text.
on another note not sure what $ you are looking at for the print head but here is a source for your review.
the other solution is to simply free up the clogged head you have. the best stuff I have found for this is
https://store.inkjetcarts.us/epson-printhead-cleaner-4oz-125ml-bottle-p6445.aspx
also this but I have not used this product
https://store.inkjetcarts.us/epson-strong-printhead-cleaner-41-concentrate-p6825.aspx

Remove the black print head being very careful in the process. You can get 3000 repair manual on line.
simply get a cap to a bottle or container that the head will fit into. Fill it with about 1/4 in of cleaning fluid and let the head soak it up for about one day. If you want to go rogue you can then take the head hook it to a syringe with the cleaning fluid and VERY GENTLY pump it into the ink port on the head. CAUTION I think there is a diaphragm in the head that you can damage so go softly.
If the head is clear you will see the liquid ooze out the multiple micro ports in the bottom of the head with just a very little push from the sryinge.
repeat as necessary the soak step install the head and run the print head checks in the printer program
best I can offer
good luck
