Newman Mesh Protection Tape- alternatives please
« on: December 08, 2016, 12:23:22 AM »
I used to be a big fan of the Newman mesh protection tape, the yellow one. looked for alternatives locally but could not find anything that comes close. I find the price though a real let down and can`t get myself to order it again. What are good alternatives with very similar characteristics? Apart from the price of course ,that`s one of the attributes I can do without.

The only issue we've had with tape is it comes off too easily with the dip tank.
We've been using gorilla tape.  It has far outlasted other brands.  It will still start to fray apart eventually, but we get a much longer life out of it.

We switched to Gorilla Tape here as well.  Home Depot carries it, which is a plus when its needed in a pinch.

Are your screen handling techniques solid?
If so, I'd try nothing on a few and see what happens.

As always, YMMV, but it's worked out well for me.
I am pretty sure I could pop an extra screen or two out of every ten and the time I save on cleanup when restretching would make it worth it.
I'm also a fan of being able to see what actual damage has gone on, instead of seeing marks on the tape and wondering...
