I've been using an Epson 1430 with good results thus far. Although I am just using it for apparel. I might try a few other items with it.

On the very rare occasion we do something like this, we outsource the transfers. That doesn't tell you what printer to get, but for us, I'm glad we tried it this way first. We haven't gotten a lot of interest in dye sub, and I'm glad we didn't learn that after buying equipment. So, I suggest this as a way to test the waters. And I hope you do a better job of figuring out how to make it profitable than we have!
Nice guys laugh last.

We have the virtuoso sg800. Use it mostly for t-shirts, but also for plaques and medals. We used epson printers for a while, but had to run head cleanings almost every time used it.

Ricoh! We have made close to 100K in products with a Ricoh 3110, that cost us 3-400$.

The inks are not cheap, but the heads never clog, and it has been a workhorse.

Also Ricoh heads in the I-Image i believe... Ricoh for the win!
