Removing Web Tack From Hoodies
« on: October 16, 2016, 04:20:13 PM »
We're currently having to flash prior to removing garments from the press, due to running our small backup dryer while transitioning to a new one.  While printing some hoodies last week, the extra heat ended up remelting the web spray on the boards, in turn getting the inside of the hoodies a bit sticky.  Wondering if anyone has any solutions to getting it off or at least making it not sticky to the touch.

Thanks much.

In general, for a whole slew of things (but never apparel) I solve residual stickiness with talcum powder. Pn many surfaces I can just brush off the excess.
Figuring a quick way to remove it on these is on you. Perhaps compressed air would be an easy fix.

Thanks Frog.  Of course these have to be black hoodies, but I'll definitely give it a shot.

I also received a tip to use strong tape (like Polyken) and dab it on the sticky areas.  Will report back with the results tomorrow.

Tape did help, but not enough to fully remove the adhesive.  We then tried spot gun fluid on a rag and it seems to be working very well.  Slow, but very well.

Keeping the powder as a last resort due to the color contrast, but I think we're gonna get by with the fluid/rag combo.
