Tri-cot mesh Football Jeresys
« on: August 07, 2016, 10:45:58 AM »
Hey everyone. I'm getting ready to do 3 football teams worth of jerseys. The jerseys are made of Tri-cot Mesh. I have had disasters with vinyl numbers coming off midway through the season. Do any of you have a go-to vinyl that you use that works well with and holds up on Tri-cot mesh?

Tricot actually describes a type of knit rather than fabric content.
If these are nylon, your problem may be they require the heat films specific to nylon. All of the brands have their versions.
The good news is that these films also work on cotton and poly.

So, what jerseys are these?
What film did you use that failed?

Just a quick FYI - I have heat pressed thousands of shirts, shorts, bags, in a array of fabrics. Only Tri-cot mesh gives me a fit.

Jersey Augusta http://www.augustasportswear.com/shop/en/augusta/youth-dual-threat-jersey

Transfers-
I have used Transfer Express - Elasti-Prints -Disintegrated after three washes
(These are supposed to be the best for nylon)

Stahls-
Premium Plus - Peels right off
Thermogrip - Peels off after getting wet maybe makes it through 4 washes
Gorilla-Grip II - Just started using this and I can start to pick it off

These are supposed to be the best of the best for this application, but I still have problems.

Perhaps Stahl's Sport Film Lite? I got a roll of this when I needed some white stretch and my folks were out of Easyweed Stretch. It is billed as great for Poly knits and mesh (as well as nylon knits and mesh which is now a moot point)

Oh, and I'm certainly not trying to impune your knowledge and experience, but tend to answer generically to hit a wider target, especially when questions are posed as such.
It's always something though, no matter how long you've been at it, eh?

Hey Frog. No offense taken here friend. I was just throwing that out there to reduce extra posts.

Thanks for Sport Film Lite info. I've got some at the shop. Gonna press it Monday.

Thanks again.

Big thanks to Frog. We are 3/4's of the way through a very wet season and the Sport Film Lite is working great. Thanks for the advise!

Easyweed extra works on all nylon and cotton, cotton poly. Have used on neoprene no problem with adhesion.

I would think gorrilla grip or even thermo film numbers from stahls would do the trick

I've had both of them fail in rainy seasons on Augusta Tri-Cot mesh. I swear that stuff acts like nylon.

That stuff also bleeds like a stuck pig...  guess would be that it's too rough for the htv to get a good grip on itm

you could always screen print with a athletic plastisol or buy those screen printed numbers..

Yes. Athletic Plastisol will work on them. The screen printed numbers from Transfer Express do not. Had horror stories with Goof Proof and Elasti-prints.

Also I'm not trying to one up you on quote comebacks. I just hope others can read from these experiences and not have to go through the same problematic issues I dealt with my first time around.

Thanks for your input.
