What I hear about the x900 series is that the initial batches of units had major problems, heinous clogging of nozzles being the biggest, but that Epson fixed it up, retrofitting some in the field and improved new produciton. No idea how true that is but Charlie from ar said their unit they have in house is also used for production and has spit out a ridiculous number of positives without issue.
This series is known for having more complicated chips and whatnot making it harder to use refillables, etc.
That said, Epson now makes screen pos film and it's good quality and will work with their oem inks. It's not optically opaque but supposedly is good to go in blocking uv. You can request samps from them to test. If you have any need for photo printing it could make sense I suppose to just run oem ink.
The T series is best fit for films all around but ours was such a mess with the feed issues that it's back with Epson. Others seem to be doing ok so maybe we just had a lemon.
I got 3 4800s here in various condition but all working if anyone wants me to skid 'em up. Not sure if ship is even worth it though.
