There is one in Houston on Saturday.  Wondering what would be considered a "deal" on it...assuming it needed work and was a bitch to move etc...

6 needles?  No thanks.  I used to think 10 was enough until we got a 15 needle.

when you say old, how old do you mean?

the space needed for that is pretty big.  Moving it would be a pain as well.  Check with a rigging company.  As a matter of fact you can check with Hirsch and they probably know a good rigger that is used to working with embroidery machines.  Ours was $800 to have brought in the building.

That ad is just a quick google result for a similar machine. 

For this specific machine, it is being offered at auction, and the only embroidery/printing related item being listed as far as I can tell.  There really isn't much info on it honestly.  I'm assuming the worst about its condition, but wondering what a good value would be on it assuming it needs tech help, parts, and considering the rigging costs, which I am well aware of ($1000-1200 was the quote I got for a similar item a few months ago).  I have bought great equipment from guys who have bought it at auction for $5, so I'm not really worried about spending a ton.  I was mainly wondering what would be the high end for a good deal on something like this assuming all the risks of buying in unknown condition at auction.  I very likely will not even go...

that would be like buying an old Precision oval. You could, and it could work, but why would you? I think it'll cost you more money than it will make. . .

All appreciated advice.  I was mainly curious in case I'm in Houston to see family over the weekend.  I have a couple connections that make a living on these random auctions and was thinking I might grab it for a few hundred bucks or something if I get lucky.

Saw (after the fact) a MSP 3140 go for $50 in one in Houston that I couldn't make it to a few months back.

I don't remember exactly where the MSP 3140 was, but I'm pretty sure it was at a community college or school surplus of some kind.  I found it on AuctionZip randomly after following a craigslist ad.

edit: looking through the photos, I may actually go to this...they have some heat presses, a glass cutter, a bunch of tools, etc.

I am not a Tajima guy.

Some of our oldest Barudan machines can't be upgraded from floppy disk to USB flash. So we still have floppy disk in the shop....

What is old? ....All our machines run 40hour x 3shirt per week in Air Conditioned room to keep the computer system cool.

I would be more concerned with technology upgrade and how the person took care of the machine.
