CTS and S.Roque or MHM users

Well it seems to be the week of CTS! I can't remember if anyone on here is running a CTS with a MHM or with the S.Roque pin system, hopefully so, because this is mostly for them.

When adding CTS to a pin reg system are there any obstacles to overcome? Are you really saving that much time? I know there is some time savings, but already not having to deal with those ridiculous carrier sheets saves a handsome amount of time. If all we had was our red press it would make much more sense, and the time savings would be double at a minimum I imagine.

Our standard screens we run are 25*33's. We will on occasion run 36*42's, I know these wont fit in a CTS so we will have to use film again for these. That means keeping a inkjet on hand and un clogged, as well as keeping our vacuum frame, right? Please correct me if I am wrong on that.

Your time savings having an already efficient system with the FPU and pin lock won't be near what others that have come from no regi system or even the carrier sheet versions.  This is my major conundrum with us going CTS, our regi system is unbelievably accurate and we do A TON of repeat jobs.  Our screen output is finally getting up there where the ROI makes sense, so all the other benefits that are said to be worth it will make the ROI a moot point for everyone except the one who writes the checks.  I wish we were like a lot of other shops our size and smaller and I could just buy one, but if it doesn't make cents, I can't make it make sense to the head honcho.  I know it would benefit our shop in many ways and would be worth it for production capacity and consumables, even setup times, but it's not ultimately my decision and that's what is so hard about our situation.

I have done a marginal amount of testing with our pins on the roq machines...... Without writing a book I will say I had more accurate/better results utilizing a special reg pallet compared to pins. The new roq machines with digital micro's where you can precisely zero each print head prior to setup I could see working well but the time it takes to re zero each head prior to setup takes longer then introducing a pallet to the press. I'm not sure how your press is setup but I would look at converting to a clamp system w/ a special reg pallet and forget about the pins. Just my opinion from the little testing I have done as if I had my choice I would stay away from the pins.
