Stahls Thermo Film colors
« on: June 04, 2015, 09:32:37 AM »
we have a color-picky customer who does stahls heatpress on the back of the shirts that we screenprint the fronts on.

Stahl's claims their numbers are PMS186... however, the pantone book and the ink we mixed doesn't match what Stahls is providing...

Anybody have a 'better' pantone number for Stahls Red?  I'm considering adding just a touch of black pigment and making a custom 'Stahls' red mix, but if somebody has already done the research I'd love to borrow your recipie :)

Thanks!

We have about 5 different shades of Stahls red, the problem is the colors change slightly year after year..But I did look it up and getting the same pantone as you.   Just throwing this out there for all you Easyweed users.. We can match up all 42 colors of vinyl and give you the exact match in ink.. in any ink series. I know you guys fight this problem all the time..

We have this too for ball teams wanting to match the number and inked front so we just make transfer numbers, not going to jump through a bunch of hoops for 15 shirts here 15 there..just to much ink that might and might not ever see daylight again laying around.

Maybe obvious, but if they are that picky just do the front print with Stahls too, then the colors will always match perfectly. more work, but happy customer should be willing to pay a little extra for "perfect"

we are finding that the stahls pantone numbers are all over the place, as well as not being correct...  ugh.
however, we are finding very close pantone numbers which with a bit of modification are looking good to them... they only use about 8 or 9 colors total, so we're keeping good records of how we modify the 'base' colors.  With how much work they send us, it's not that big of a deal (received 3 new PO's today).

On a side note, we purchased some One Stroke Bravo Flex as well to try tomorrow for this customer as well.
