Let's hope the inspector that was in marks shop doing those reports isn't a lurker of this forum...I have the feeling if he saw something like this we would all have laser systems on our presses in a hurry.  :-X :-X :-X

That had to hurt though lol

This is not unique to the Challenger 3D. Most presses will not even flinch when they index into your hip. Be careful and don't step into the perimeter while it's running.

That's just the press reminding you who runs the place.

its so sore and looks worse now.  I have been hit twice in my 17 years and this one is the worse.  The torque on the CH3 is no joke.

I must clarify, all of the safety bars and safety beams are in place, its my stupidity.  I was looking at the bottom of a print as it came around and I reached over to stop the press without looking, but hit the print finish switch instead by accident.   I leaned in to get a good look at the print and BAM!  I learned my lesson.

Ours has a "safety curtain" over the load/unload area. I don't believe this could happen on our press. And of course the safety cords around the entire press.

Quick note -

On a Sportsman with a servo drive, I effed up pretty bad last year. I had it in "print finish" mode and the shirts were winding out (press assistant was pulling shirts off)

I clicked head #1 to "off" while the press was still winding down. Once the last shirt was out from under the last head, I turned off the head and  stepped into the perimeter to start pulling out the first screen. (assuming the press was to stop as the last shirt was at the unload position)

I didn't know that if you turned off the heads, it essentially cancels the "print finish" sequence.

The press indexed into my hip HARD. I almost got out of the way but not quick enough. I felt it in the bones for days.
