Nylobond, any secret tips to keeping it fresh?
« on: May 19, 2014, 08:54:51 PM »
...hey gang! Title says it all. I have stopped buying the quart bottles, because they always dry out and harden after the first use. So a few days ago, I opened two 4oz bottles that were unopened and still sealed, and even those wouldn't squeeze out...had to cut the top and scoop out the center.

..any top-secret way to keep this stuff fresh? I always reseal the bottle with electrical tape, as it comes to me that way. I have tried squeezing all the air out of the bottle before sealing too, which doesn't seem to help. Should I be storing in climate controlled, or in darkness or something? Would storing in the fridge have any benefit (cant see how, just taking a blind stab).
Thanks TSB gang!!

...Sean, Mr Tees!!!

We thin our one with thinner. Sericol sells them as well.
The amount you add depends on how thin you want to go. Also test wash test your product.

On the right side of the page check out recommendation. We have never use the retarder before.

I hope you did not throw away the old ones.

Oops. I have a habit for not reading for words. sorry

When I have it around, I store upside down. In the fridge when warm.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

We turn the little 4oz'ers upside down.
That way there is no air next to top, is sealed and fresh
as long as it will last.

Excalibur's x150 nylonond has a 2 year shelf life.  It is more of a milk consistency than the ones that look like honey.  We stopped carrying the honey looking brands a couple years ago, and our customers like it because it does not turn into a brick, and works the same.  However i do suggest flipping it over every couple months; it does seem to settle if you don't.

We use the Union 4oz. bottles. When done, we wrap them up in the sawran-wrap(sp?) and toss them in a drawer. Has worked so far, but I bet I just jinxed it! ;D

I've noticed a few products, with a tendency to dry out that come packaged to store upside down. Plastic Wood come to mind. The pry off lid is on the bottom!

Bumping old thread - but I was just having similar issues and wanted to share something that worked for me:

Had an 8oz bottle of Nylobond I opened and used about 1/6th of a year ago. Went to use it on Wednesday and it was basically crap. I read the advice to store it flipped over but that was obviously too little too late. If you find yourself in the same situation .... I just flipped it over, grabbed my power drill and with a small drill bit drilled out some holes in the bottom of the bottle. Squeezed it out and I was able to salvage most of it for the job I had to get done.

It's obviously not a fix, but if you find yourself like me with a job you have to finish the day before Christmas with no other options - it did the trick!

Same here, we put it in the fridge. Helps a lot. Apart from that we don`t really use Nylonbond anylonger. As most of our prints on nylon are either white or yellow, sometimes red we use Nazdar DA inks. Works so much better.
