Oversize shoulder print?
« on: February 25, 2015, 02:26:32 PM »
I know Tonypep at his company does this, but we've got a school that are asking for this type of printing so we ordered a J America shirt, now I,m trying to figure out how to print this in a production fashion.  I know I could sub it out but knowing this school they might not order but a hand full not worth the time for subbing out...any advice welcomed

Could you show a pic showing what you mean? Even if just a scanned sketch.

We were thinking vinyl for that; they make special shirts for it as I've seen, but only had one request so far, and they balked at the price. Still, someone's doing them, why not us too if it's worth it...

We do them on the manual, all of the orders are less then 36 so it's bearable. I print them sideways, across the shoulders in stead to top to bottom, lot easier then pushing a 22" squeegee. I would take it on and do them on the auto if there were more orders.

Wide board? Special board?
If design allows it or can be engineered, how about a leg board stuck through the sleeve openings?

Or my favorite for small runs, probably won't help you...heat seal.

Action makes a special platen specifically for this.

23x31 screen turned sideways on the press.  18"-20" FB/Squeegee.

But if it's not something you're going to get into heavily, the investment to set it up is probably not worth it.
In that case, you're better off just getting a single platen for your manual and printing them length ways like Binkspot said.

Don't forget the Puff!  ;D

I know they do this type of work at there place, but yeah I'm thinking about going over to the cabinet shop and getting one pallet made for the manual as I know we want get very big orders for this...the shirt we got is a J America Gameday Jersey made for this type of printing...got it from Virginia Tee's, oh and pretty costly to.

I've done vinyl on the few that I have done. The newer stuff is so much thinner than years past

we do them for a few customers and just press them with premium plus from stahls. so far no complaints and they have turned out nice.

We have done it a few times. We just laid the shirt on the board sideways with the neck facing opposite the direction your machine indexes. Printed discharge and done!
