New way to level frame holders.
« on: September 04, 2011, 06:24:27 PM »
Learned this from Augie, a press tech at M&R and all around cool guy. Check it:

So basically what you do is add whatever spacer you want under the level on one end.

If you want you can tape the spacer to the level.

Then the other end of the level goes on the frame holder. You adjust the frame holder till it's "Level".

Do this to all 4 of the frame holder corners and you should be good to go.

This might actually be better with a digital level.

Looks like a cool idea. Anyone ever try the pallet/head leveler that Action makes?

Do that exact same thing with 2 - 36"  levels placed just under the air locks.

hmm.. not a bad idea. Although it seems like when you get into the longer levels they get taller and wouldn't fit under the frame bar.

Also then your using it more of a LOC gauge.. with the one level setup you adjust the bolt based on the bubble in the level. Not any kind of gap that you would be looking for using the LOC style setup.

Unless i'm not understanding johns idea.

I didn't think of this before but if you're using a bubble, make sure the entire machine is level before you start so you don't get inaccurate readings as you travel around the press.
