Two questions here:


Where and how are screens scraped of ink and de-taped?

If one was looking for a stainless table like that is there a specific name they'd call it?
Looks like a restaurant thing?


I really like your ink cleaning process on that table, much more efficient and less water/chems everywhere.

Nice catch on the PPE discrepancy.

Our employees are required to wear eye protection at all times in reclaim and hearing protection when using a pressure washer.

Gloves and aprons are available for use by those who choose and some staff members wear hats to prevent 'baldness', not sure of the validity of that claim.

I checked with Anthony and he has some allergy related excema that is acting up and why he choose to only wear one glove.

I use ultimate cleanup cards on press to de-ink right back onto the ink cart, then have a large trash bin only for tape that is 21" wide so a screens sits nicely across it.  Then screens are stacked against a wall by my dirty booth ready for dipping and pressure washing.  I'm going to try to make a video over the weekend I think.

get rid of those spray bottles and go with a pump driven dispensing system straight from the drum..

in 2015 the new SDS (global harmonization system) cards are becoming mandatory and all of those bottle will require a a tag on them.

the only spray bottle you'll find in my shop is the one with water in it

Valid points, here are my thoughts.

We removed an air driven pump delivery system 2 years ago and went back to individual bottles.  Chemistry bill went down by 2/3, takes less than an ounce (6-8 squirts) of quality ink degrandant to clean the crappiest screen, secret is a damp not soaking brush.  Why do you think chemistry companies offer to install FREE systems.

We still buy drum quantity of chemistry then decant off into 5 gal totes that are used to fill spray bottles.  A drum will do over 12,000 of our typical screens.

Regarding labels the bottle is a vendor supplied sample bottle with the original product label thus contains all currently required information, I cringe at relabeling bottles as I am not a chemist or industrial hygienist.

And I don't know how many folks here have the luxury of buying their chemicals by the drum. You and I probably do more screens in a day than some here do in a month.

I must be doing something right for a change, I do our screens almost the same way just not on a nice table, and I use the sample bottles as well and pour from 5 gals instead of drums great vid Captain Kit

Thanks for all the response on the reclaim video demo I posted to YouTube.

Reclaim and the screen cycle is one of the most misunderstood PROFIT and productivity drains in our industry.

Just what I expected from you Greg- amateur at best   Actually great video and good points! We are going to be setting up a new reclaim area, and I think at the minimum wage I'm taking your screen drip holder, angled table also! Thanks for sharing Greg!! I love it when guys are generous enough to share their great systems!

I definitely need to make a quick angled draining holder.  I am experimenting with changing my reclaim processes right now and I know that would speed things up.

Greg, can you please tell us what chemicals you are using for cleaning and removing the emulsion.
