4800 Film Advance before Printing?
« on: March 22, 2014, 08:16:18 AM »
I have recently started a new artist job... we have a 4800 and it advances about 5" of film before it starts to print. The artist before me spend hours on the phone with tech support to no avail. Just before she left she was printing a plate and we had to cancel the print job by pressing reset. After that it stopped!

Well, this week I was switching to a wider film roll and forgot to push the lock lever down. Ever since it advances again and nothing I do fixes it.

Has any one had this issue and was able to fix it?

I've got my 4800 sitting a few feet from me and remember having to adjust this setting and even now the space is about 1" from the cutline.

i found the answer in google land.

This could happen when the paper size is changed.. Turning off the paper size check function should resolve that problem.

How about an automatic retract after cut? I'm a cheap bastard and it wastes an extra 3" of film if I don't hold the rewind button after each film cut.

Hmm.. Is the paper settings setup in the driver interface?  Source: roll paper, Size: User Defined- width: your paper width, height: will be automatically determined by your image's height so leave as is.

Ok, it's fixed for now. All I did was cancel a print job with a "reset" and it now retracts before printing instead of advancing. This the second time this has happened and both times cancelling a print job fixed it BUT it took 6 plus times to stick.

No changes have been on the driver side during all of this so it seems to be printer related.
