hole in exposure blanket? How can i fix it?
« on: March 24, 2014, 03:27:34 PM »
We have an Amergraph with the Neoprene blanket. its not a massive hole but its there and it makes a hissing sound and you can see light thru it when it's on.    Whats the proper way to go about plugging that up w/o ruining it further?

Agree on the bicycle repair kit or silicone.
To keep it from getting ripped use a black piece of fabric to cover your screen.
Protects the rubber and all the ink goes on it instead of the expensive vacuum blanket.
Cheap to replace as well.

Skip the bike tube repair kit, and go down to the local automotive tire shop and get a couple of their peel & stick patches and the cleaner that goes with it.

After you make the temporary repair, call Mark at Douthit , 313-244-4037 and ask him for the form to order a replacement blanket, then do it.

I don't know where they get the stuff they use but I am sure it came from Krypton with Superman.

Super flexible, will last next to forever and a day!

and duct tape will do as a temporary fix!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

That's about THE worst temp fix ever.. makes a giant sticky mess.

I'll 3rd the bike tube repair kit for a quick fix. For long term, line the blanket with neoprene using velco along the inside edges. When it gets dirty or rips on a corner, replace just the liner.

I'l also 2nd the rubber from Douthitt.

You beat me to that.  I thought duct tape fixes everything.  At least that's what I see on Mythbusters, lol.
