UPC bar codes???

Does anyone know anything about UPC bar codes for products? Like generators or do I have to buy them or what? Thanks in advance.

There are actual font files you can  download that will print out barcodes. I believe there are a few "standard" barcode languages. We use ours with InFlow inventory I beehive it is called.

You can generate UPC and other barcode types online. Here's one such utility: http://www.terryburton.co.uk/barcodewriter/generator/ Just set the scale to 15/15 to print at maximum size.

if you want other people to be able to use them in stores, I believe you have to apply some kind of company identifier code or something...

I think your right , A friend of mine says he buys them in blocks of numbers ( not sure on what the pricing is) , then they are assigned to a product that can be scanned at any retailer anywhere. He does a lot of co-packing where the barcode on the shampoo bottle get covered when its combined with a bottle of conditioner , it then has a barcode for the 2 together.

Yeah thanks guys! I'm designing labels for a new supplement company which is a nice change of pace. Anyways they just got back to me and said they will buy them on bulk and get them to me. Thanks again, you'll are great!
