freak the Corel Corp.
« on: March 06, 2014, 11:15:40 AM »
Just needed to vent.

New art computer. Re-installed X4 (don't yet trust all through a RIP print functions of X6 yet - I KNOW X4 works). Trial version.
I long ago lost my X4 install CD. But I have the serial number.
Well, I need an "activation code" to get the trial limitations removed.

Corel apparently simply can't provide me one. Tech support to sales to tech support to tech support supervisor who wanted me to go back to sales again. I told him to get freaking bent. I guess I'll go online and get a cracked version.
What a terrible way to run a business.

hey! first time cursing on here! love the editing function. Guess I'll have to get way more creative to get my angst past the nanny-monitors.  ;D

they aren't nannies really, just keeping it clean for everyone. I think we all know how we speak under normal conditions. I speak like Richard Pryor all the time, but among friends, never in mixed company, at least until I get to know them better...

Not the brightest thing to post on an open forum.

Also, the sweet, sweet irony of those two sentences together.

not sure of the legality of it, but without a doubt there are no moral/ethical conundrums here. He paid for a full version and has the right to use it!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

If he gets a cracked version then inputs his legit Corel Key I would not have an issue with it. Corel would obviously disapprove of the method in which he got a full version. Hopefully he does not run a key generator of some type and end up with a nasty virus that no antibiotics can treat.

All of the numbers that I have ever needed to install, or re-install are, I believe also listed online in my Corel account.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

that would be true Frog, but it was purchased x number of years ago, before this shop even had email, so whatever the account was ever under - it's apparently unprovable (even though I have my serial).

but we were even past that point, they were willing to agree that in theory I HAD bought the thing. They still couldn't do it.

Probably a pirated version loaded with viruses.  Your computer will lock up never to boot again.   :o
