We have the macmail through our computer linked to the website email..

it would be the same for thunderbird also..we used to use that but easier through my mac

if you try to access it through the mac mail, what does it say?

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

I just posted this in the shoutbox, but I would seriously look into hosting your email through gmail.  You can setup a branded business account with them and use your domain for everything as if it is being hosted on your servers, but with the added redundancy of googles servers and the ability to access it easily from any device.  You can still use whatever gui or client you prefer like outlook or thunderbird.

Open macmail and delete any old emails you can, especially those with large attachments.
