TSB Holiday charity
« on: December 05, 2013, 02:57:00 PM »
Brandt got me thinking about getting the TSB gang doing something for the holiday season.
Any ideas or suggestions? In particular, who and how. . .

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

How about a holiday design that we ALL print 12 shirts of then ship to a central place to donate to a homeless shelter?

I would suggest a sweatshirt instead of a shirt, since keeping warm is a huge concern for the homeless this time of year (which is why you see all the coat drives).

Hoodies could be cool.  In the interest of efficiency wouldn't it make sense that 1 shop print them all.  The rest of us just drop ship the garments to said shop.  Said shop takes a few bucks to cover the screen/labor?  Or maybe said shop just does the printing and such and that is their "donation to the project.  Rest of us send in the Garments and such.

Just ideas.

It would be more efficient, but I like the idea of decentralizing the project.  I think it would be cool if there was a single design, but they were printed and distributed locally.  This may be thinking too big picture or down the road, but something like this, if well documented and publicized, could very easily become a "thing" and attract outside donations that made it possible to do on a larger scale down the road.  Would be amazing publicity for this community as well (if that's desired at all).  Just a thought.

I actually like this idea and have something I'll try to do in the background. . .

Coincidentally, I have had a person wanting shirts done to sell for her charity. We spoke several times and she was about to pull the trigger. I didn't know much about her or the charity at the time. Since then, I've been seeing her work hard over that last few weeks drumming g up donations of money and gifts from businesses. This charity goes to kids who would otherwise would not have gifts for Christmas.

She's 501c3 and actually her own daughters came up with the idea several years ago and they are now all operating this charity together.

After discussing her tee order, I could tell she didn't have the money right away and then she let me know she was waiting on a check donation that had been promised before placing the tee order to sell to build more funds. So I waited. She gir ba j wuth me and said she was ready to place the Order and would cone in soon. she never did. After a week, I saw online that another one of her biggest contributors sent a check that was promised of 1000.00 but it bounced. Tried a fre days later had bounced again. That was a week ago and still no $ from it and no contact with the donor. This of course set her back from the schedule and plans of meeting the needs and deadlines of Christmas.

I think the needs if a tee order are 2ndary to needing donations but I'm sure some prayers would be answered if she somehow was able to receive a modest order of tees. Since I don't print myself, I can't offer that and honestly, I can't afford to buy the shirts either. As a printing business, Im having my own tough times.

So, sinces one if the things she was looking to do was to get tees done for online sales and donor handouts as well as Co shirts, I thought this would be a good option to post here and see if she can be helped in this area.  If not shirts for the org. Than maybe some may see fit to make a donation of something.

Im positive she will be thrilled to post where this money goes and how she might use the tees to benefit the Charity. As Icwas told already, she would give a tee to a major donor, where then as staff shirts and sell on Facebook. The below link is her site.

The charity is for gifts for needy children only, (as far as I know).

The art is basically her Angel Wings logo. I think it's a 3 color job. Back design and left chest is what she was shooting for.

Let me know your thoughts.
