Title: Registration Bearing adjustment Jig

Looking for a registration bearing adjustment jig that mounts on the z bar and holds the dial indicator for readings.
I am in the KC area. Maybe a shop close to me has one they would loan to me or an extra one they would sell?
or, even DIY plans to build my own?

I have a old Challenger 1  that I need to adjust badly.

I am totally unfamiliar with how the M&R bracket works but could any of the magnetic bases used by machinists to set dial indicators help?

I wonder if M&R may not even have a unit that they would rent out, similar to the box of valve shims many dealers loan to home mechanics, charging only for those used.

btw, brownbear, if and when you do get the jig, I sincerely hope that rather than needing to adjust it badly, you, in fact need badly to adjust it. Anything worth doing, is worth doing well! LOL!
Otherwise, I do have a name of someone who may well adjust it badly for you.  :)

hire a tech...I went through this and "somebody who will remain nameless...dubya bee..." sent me one...it's only easy if you've done it many times before...that's why I say hire a tech, specially on them old jammies...

when i was looking, i think the device was around 500.00....a tech can be anywhere from 1k on up..well worth it in my book.

M&R sells them on their store. Homer is right (finally). It's easy if you've used it a few times. I've jerry rigged my own using z bar, dial indicator, bungee cords, and crossed fingers. Only did that to help a frien who was in a serious jam. Best bet is to spend the money on a tech and get it done right. You'll also then have the experienced eyes there to show you some things you may not know, and maybe see some other issues. Spend a little money to save a lot! Just my humble opinion

and most techs can get a press to within factory specs.  Do you know what factory is?  Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it is 1/1000th of an inch.  Our tech got our press to 1/2000th of an inch...so even better than factory.  That is called experience...and patience, both of which I lack.
