We are about to pull the trigger on a new cutter... I think they are about to release a new FCC model because they have some clearances on the 8000 model now. So for an extra $800 should I get the 8000?
Other than speed and down force, what is the main differences?

We have a 5000 and 8000. Friends just got a 6000. Eye on 8000 is better for contour cuts. Speed on 8 is different league.

we had a 5k, then upgraded to an 8k. the 5k (from what the tech says) is not really geared towards vinyl/sign industry. it's more of a blue print type plotter, just modified a little. We had nothing but trouble with the 5k, the eye is really weak, it's better on the 8 like beanie says .... go with the 8k for sure.

I have CE 5000-60 for sale. Bought it last September.
Selling it just because I have few jobs lined up that require bigger cutter and I purchased used 48" Mutoh printer 2 weeks ago. It does not make much sense to have 48" printer and 24" cutter. Let me know if interested. I did not have any issues with it.
Homer, eye issues might be cause by a lightning or a light reflection in your shop.
I had no issues with contour cutting. The only issue I could see that comes with it is a tracking. It might be off a bit on long cuts.
Buying new FC8600-130, a 54" cutter that came out on the market last week.
