Title: Thread diameters and EOM
Post by: bimmridder on April 11, 2013, 10:22:45 AM
Not that this is anything surprising or revolutionary, but I just took a few quick readings on some mesh, same thread count, different diameter.

Coated using identical technique on Kiwo Simplex. 1-2 round
Speed 6 (Irrelevant)
Ulano Orange
Coated and dried overnight in 30% RH
Imaged with Kiwo I-Jet
Exposed on Olec 5K 65 light units
Developed with warm water pres soak and 750 PSI wash
Dried room temp (70 +/-)
measured after four hours dry time

158-48  59 EOM
156-64   24 EOM

These are all parameters used in my shop and different than yours. Just trying to show what the difference in thread diameter makes in coating a screen, and final EOM.

Those numbers are almost identical to what we get between two of the same mesh counts with different diameters.  The thin threads get a much thicker eom with the same amount of work.  Most thin threads could probably be coated 1/1 and have the same eom as a regular thread that's been done 2/1.

stupid question but is there any other "thin thread" mesh besides murakami s mesh? I can't seem to get it locally anymore.

Dave, curious are you stating microns or perecentage of EOM.  In other words, in your 158/48 example is it 59% EOM or 59 Microns EOM?   Just clarifying the data reference for an apples to apples discussion.

An oversight on my part. The EOM is microns, not a percentage (You expect me to do math?)

yeah, if the math isn't in multiples of 12, we are lost.

NBC mesh.
