Almost 15 years not bad, looks like a simple fix but I could be wrong.

yeah im hoping that will be the case.  if i can find the part or not will be the issue i think.

If memory servers me right the broken part is just a stud that screws into the adjusting coupling. It may be a left hand thread. You should be able to loosen the lock nut, unscrew the stud and match it at an industrial supply.

Dave Heath at http://presstech.net/ (http://presstech.net/) knows those old machines inside & out, & has helped me out of more jams than I could list here. Great guy, has some good after-market alternatives for the series 1 machines.
