Title: Oracal 651 on cars?
Post by: Prosperi-Tees on October 26, 2012, 12:33:27 AM
We will be cutting some simple text decals for the side of 3 trucks 4" tall by 6' long. Wont go around any bends or anything. Is the Oracal 651 the way to go? I have used it on glass but not paint. Is there any difference?

I prefer 751.....IMO 651 shrinks too much....When I first got started I put samples of both on my truck....Within about 6 months the 651 started to show signs of shrinkage and you could see a ring outside the outline of the letters where they dirt gathered.....This is because the adhesive started oozing out....Thus convinced me that 751 was the way to go....

Are those both removable with a hair dryer?

That is how I remove them......As far as I know they both have the same permanent adhesive.....

The difference is that 751 is a cast vinyl. It is made with pouring of vinyl into casts and drying. The 651 is made bay stretching the vinyl and that is why it tends to shrink.
751 does not shrink because it was not stretched when it was made.
