Title: Arial MT Bold?
Post by: Gilligan on June 11, 2012, 10:27:48 AM
I don't have it and can't seem to locate it.

Anyone got this hanging around?

AI keeps bugging for it and the substitutes though probably close enough aren't exact and I'm the end of a 4 person chain on this artwork.

As you know, we aren't supposed to swap or give away fonts, but I will type your text and save it as vectors if you want...

I just thought it was a free font... being of the seemingly basic arial family.

Push comes to shove I think the wife can MAKE a regular arial translate.

I thought Arial MT was a font distributed by an older version of Adobe Reader, it is a PS font and I am almost 100% positive it is absolutely identical to arial regular. I know in the past i have just subbed for arial regular and it worked fine.

I just had a similar issue with two different versions of Forte on my computer. They were identical, but not automatically substituted when opening up files.
Gilly needs to look at Steve's version (or on a commercial font site), compare it to an arial version on his computer, and then check it as a substitute if it is the same or damn close.

Well AI is saying specifically:

"The font ArialMT-Bold is missing.  Affected text will be displayed using a substitute font."

I downloaded an "Arial MT" font and it just shows up as "Arial" in the drop down (I have two now) and AI still complains.

Like I said with my Forte example, sometimes, even identically named font files are not recognized as identical fonts, and must be manually substituted.

there are multiple versions (revisions) of the Arial font and if you have version 1.05 and it wants 1.10 it can give errors.
