Title: How would you seperate and print this?
Post by: Prosperi-Tees on March 09, 2012, 06:10:47 PM
Going on hot pink shirts! They seem to think this can be done in 2 colors as the light part of the green is a fountain fill, im not so sure.

I'm not seeing it.

I see white'ish, green fading to white/green (not pink green) and black.

Even if you fountained the green to an underbase (3rd color) how do you plan on fountaining the bottom?  Stroking sideways?  Can be done but think about the trouble it might be.

No way. You need to underprint that for sure. Base white, Green. White, and Black. Green, white, and black are not 2 colors. Are the reen deficient color blind? ;D

Never let the client tell you how to print.

I would however tell them how to design.

I know. This is a new contract client as well but they are more into embroidery.

Isn't that just as bad?

Shouldn't you just say "ok, thank you for the design, this will be X colors and cost this much"?

Now, if they don't like that, then you could make suggestions on how they could trim it down by changing the design.

I gotta see if they want to dumb it down. That's an $80 difference from what she thinks it is.

Agree 10000%  If they think it can be done as a two color have them supply the seps, charge for set up and run a sample with their films. When they do not like the outcome, make sure they pay double for wasting your time and the use of all the consumables.

Also how can anyone look at that design and say it is only 2 colors.  I see at least 3 even using one green. White, Black and Green.  LMAO.

You could easily print this
Black
White UB
Flash
Green

Use a larger halftone, say 45lpi and you should get a pretty good and easy print.

I sent it back to them as a 2 color to let them decide plus an art fee. We shall see what they say.

Even if you halftoned the green you would need white to make it look right.

Indeed  the design needs a white plate yet the text is Black thus making this a 3 color.

Homer in the design, the white part is actually a fountain of the same main green color just super duper light.
There is
3 shades of green and 1 black
