Is this possible to accomplish with discharge? if so, where would i find the pigments or the stuff I need? thoughts?
-
I have yet to test it but I got some sericol fluorescent green discharge in the other day. The sales rep said I would be blown away by it. I should be testing first part of next week.

Post pics when you can. Would love to see

We mixed some custom discharge colors this week. The green came out a bit pastel looking but still nice and bright.
-
The colors look great on the gray shirt. Very nice and vibrant.
-
try sericol flou. green straight out of the bucket. super bright vibrant color. 1 stroke thru a 160-200 . looks amazing even when ran wet under a couple other colors. I would post some photos but my iphone camera doesnt take good photos
-
I ordered some sericol flou. green. Hopefully be here Tuesday. I'll take some pics after we print.

i couldnt find one either. a quick search on Google and the first place that popped up was Atlas Screen Supply. The had the Sericol in the color required so I purchased it from them. Easy enough transaction just gotta wait 2 - 3 days for UPS.
-
Online, Atlas, Dimensional and GJS stock it but you can also order direct from Fuji Film
-
Interested to hear about others experience w. Sericol. I like that they have RFUs for some of their discharge colors.
-
call marvin foreman... 1.704.299.3714 he is the sericol contact for your area and will set-you up with some gallon samples. you can buy direct from sericol and they have several warehouses
-
Thanks RStefanick! I'll give him a call.
-
all of the sericol rfu colors will work as a discharge. the also have a downloadable pms color formula guide using the 12 rfu colors.

Sericol Flourescent Green and Red Blue Shade. I have to say I am impressed with the turnout. The green is a little thicker than the red. Both are pretty thin, nothing like CCIs products which are thicker and have more solvent to prevent drying in the screen. I am concerned how the Sericol stuff will behave on a hot day but color wise I think its awesome.
-
So, are both of those dicharged? It looks great.
-
Yes both are discharged. I'm gonna do a wash on it tonight and see what it looks like.
-
Here is a bright, bright almost neon blue we did with Matsui Pigments and CCI discharge white and discharge base we did a long time ago. Numerous washings and still super bright! Not neon green but still bright ass blue!
-
Crap, time to get a new camera phone. That picture is not the best!
-
Are you still using Matsui? I really like the CCI white and base and really like this Sericol stuff from 1st impression. I am still concerned about running any of this stuff when the temp start to climb, easily gets in the 100s in the shop in August and September.

Yup, just the pigments, fixer, and agent. For base/white its CCI. We have tried the Sericol stuff recently and prints well but we have our own formulas for Matsui that work great and brighter than anything else we have seen out of the bucket. But from everyone I talk to you almost have to come up with your own formulas it seems. If you are worried about the temp try adding some pringen and keep a misting spray bottle near at all times. We are in a cold environment up here and we always have a spray bottle handy.
-
I think before I commit to anything I am going to see how CCI does with their pigments. I like being able to stick with one system. If I am not happy with them I most likely will go Sericol. I cant remember what I read but some people were frustrated with Matsui pigments, maybe it was the formulas.
-
Damn that green is about a sick point sick on the sickter scale.
A little pastel perhaps but worth it for no hand. Looks like great stuff.
-
Im liking it as well, its in the dryer right now. Lets see if it loses any of it.

Yes, the formulas. But from everyone I talk to no matter what system for mixing pantones none of them are 100% accurate. For sure Matsui's takes a lot of learning. After a few years we can mix any pantone within about one shade slightly off if not exact. But that is our system, not theirs. And for certain brands of shirts, not all.
I am excited about the CCI pigments though!
-
well, we printed it on some samples and the customer doesnt like it. it's not bright enough. to be honest, its more toward the kelly green than "neon / bright ass" green. I think today we are going to mix some neo yellow with the green and see if we can brighten this thing up. the neon yellow is WOW bright! i mean, i reached for my shades when i opened the bucket. we shall see....
-
If the CCI red is like the sample the rep showed me Sericols is brighter. Hopefully what he showed me is not the final.
As far as the green how much activator did you use Nathan?
-
3% per Sericol tech support. How much did you use cause your print sure looks much brighter than mine.
-
I used 4% as per the tech sheet. Printed thru a 156 and 2 hard strokes.

I'll try 4% today. I did use a 156 / 2 strokes. In the can, the ink is dark like a kelly green. it lightens some when printed. is your green that dark in the can?
-
Its a little darker than I thought it would be, also it was printed on a Gildan 2000
-
Blam!
CCI Premium base/Rutland pigments. Pretty high load, maybe 10%. 230 green/180 white.

-
Nice Sean. Where are you getting your Rutland pigments? I like the idea of Sericols colors being all RFU but pigments are still not out of the picture for me.
-
eb, what is sutton soccer?
I only ask because my brother in law is a Sutton, and his brother is a pro goalie that runs soccer camps.

He's actually a killer nice guy too.

-
But you should see our reds....

Wow that is a nice red! What mix of pigments to achieve that?
-

Sean, do you use Sun Apparel? How are they if you do.
-
with the sericol red.. 3% activator max or you will dull out the color.
-

Looks like some of you are realizing that, in some cases, you can achieve brighter and more saturated colors with pigmented discharge.
Its about time! :)
Yes the pcs are expensive but they go a very very long way. And the base is around $22 at least for me so the actual ink is cheaper than plastisol providing you minimize the activated color
-
Custom mix for the red, just gotta 'speriment.
I do use Sun Apparel and love them. Bob and Rocko are the jam.
-
finished printing today and must say, they came out good. ended up mixing 1 part neo green and 2 parts neo yellow. the result was an eye popping bright ass green. BAM!! customer was ecstatic and so were we.
On to the next... :)
-
Did we forget to take pics?
-
Here is another pic of white and red discharge. I believe we use the same system as Tony
-
Here is a pic. Sorry I didnt have it to post earlier.
-
Holy cow that is bright!
-
Holy cow that is bright!
yeah, it truly is. that was taken with my IPhone so no tricks just a plain photo and it is bright as hell. ;D
-
Need the damn shades to look at that one. Awesome!

We were able to accomplish this print with Matsui's NEO pigments.

I know this is an old thread, but I need a working Neon Green discharge asap for an upcoming job. I am going to buy the sericol RFUs and mix based on what Skyline posted, but I was wondering if anyone had a formula using Matsui pigments. I have the Matsui Glow Green pigment and if you just put some of the pigment on a shirt and let it dry it is the perfect color, but adding it to base, even up to 30% pigment (lol) produces a comparatively dull lime green color that I can actually mix brighter using just the standard yellow and green pigments. I have tried adding white as well based on a comment in another thread and it mutes it too. Anyone know why it dulls so much in the base and how sericol is getting that kind of vibrance with their RFU?
-
check cci rfu flos, they work great and are more readily available and are cheaper.
-
^^^What dirk said, the CCI rfu D-FLO inks are awesome straight out of the bucket. I did some prints last fall that got taken to the FESPA show in london to show off how bright they were. they are awesome for discharge flos ready to go! 8)
-
has any one tested the sericol and CCI RFUs side by side? I am fine testing myself, but time is of the essence and benefiting from others testing would be awesome.
-
Not yet, still going through some Sericol. The Sericol fluoro green is very nice, the yellow sucks it hard, I do know that.
CCI's fluoro blue I think tested out very nice for us. I believe that's the only gallon currently in the shop of CCI's fluoros but we'll likely migrate to them.
Low activator on all the fluoros! Super important.
-
Add another one for CCI Flo
-
My sericol RFU neons showed up and I just ran some tests. First impression: WOW!
The attached image shows the following from top to bottom:
1. Brightest I could get with Matsui Glow Green pigment and brite base.
2. Sericol Flu Green out of the can with 6% activator
3. 50% Sericol Flu Green / 50% Sericol Flu Yellow out of the can with 6% activator
4. 33% Sericol Flu Green / 67% Sericol Flu Yellow out of the can with 6% activator
5. Sericol Flu Yellow out of the can with 6% activator
All swatches printed on Anvil 980 Heather Dark Gray (60% poly/40% cotton)
In person I think the 50/50 looks both the brightest and the most like a classic 80s neon green. 3 and 4 both almost hurt your eyes to look at. They smell...interesting...when curing. Nothing like Matsui, but still not "good". Great consistency out of the can and i have had an uncured bit of ink sitting out for about 25 minutes and it isn't noticeably drying.
edit: messed with the white balance a bit on my phone's camera. In real life the matsui and the flu yellow look closer to the second photo, but the other three look more like the first photo.

You are correct, but our formulas have been recently updated and our pigments have highest concentration in the market. We also have a handful of discharge bases. We do not market all of them to avoid confusion, but we do have them available since we work with some of the biggest shops in the world and necessary to make custom products to fit there working demands. Our DSFP product is used when high mesh is required and our Bright Discharge Base when you need nice bright colors. These two are the most commonly used in the fashion market place. We also have fluorescent pigment now available called Glow Colors. Visit www.matsui-color.com (http://www.matsui-color.com) for more information or contact me direct for more information.
