Has anyone seen this before?
They said they were getting some erratic readings in the dryer. So I was checking myself, and I looked in and saw the heating panels cracked and one further inside down a little...
I dont want to replace these...ugh... do you think I would have to?
-
Yes. I had one like that, one day if finally gave out and arced to the bed of the dryer. Went through a shirt and burned a hole in the belt.
You might check here. https://intekcorp.com/product/om-model-heating-panels-ir-emitters/ (https://intekcorp.com/product/om-model-heating-panels-ir-emitters/)

thank you for that.. im going to check those panels out - $900 for 1 from MR
I just got off the phone with MR, the one sagging is prob not working and the other 2 could have superficial cracks due to compensating for the one thats down.

That probably means $300 from someone else.

Be interesting to open up the bad one and see the cause. I believe these IR use a spiral coil wire. Maybe they start sagging and sometime the coil is wrapped around a ceramic rod. Maybe rod broke and sagged then the exterior board.
broke due to heat. See if you have continuity from each lead on the bad one when disconnected. If no, then the coil broke inside.
Take some pics if you do…Never really took apart one. Have elongated one of the coil to terminals slightly.
Other type of heating element is similar to a n elemnt used on a oven. It is ridgid and shaped.
I believe you may need to drill out some rivets.

Im going to run it with the 3 panels until after the holidays.. im going to chance it. We slow way down, and this way I can take the time to do it. Since we are prob 75% DTF anyway.
Ill most likely replace just the one panel.
Ill take pics as I take apart.

Their markups have been sad, not to mention support, timeliness. I can never get a hold of someone at the parts department and they fail to email when I tell them to email me. Maintenance parts for the CTS were unavailable and I ended up getting them elsewhere for 1/6 of the price. Same exact part.

Sad indeed. Rich always told me that the M&R Sales and Service moniker was strongly focused on the service part and that what was what made them so successful. Not so much now.
-
He told me they were a service company that sold equipment.
-
Thats right I remember now. Miss some of the old techs but theres some great new ones. Also miss the 24/7 tech service when you could get a real person immediately. Sign of the times though.

Yea, when I bought my equipment, Diamondback 6/8, I was using it on a Monday, Memorial Day. I had 3 things going on, I posted to the MR forum to ask about it. Soon after, Rich called me himself and gave me solutions to all 3 questions.
That will never, ever happen again.

I will never forget Rich. I have a 2010 sportsman E. After about 2 years I noticed 2 of the squeegee holders raising unevenly after a stroke. I posted here about it and Rich send me a pm and said he would send this special grease for me to apply and if that didn't fix it, he would send new chopper cylinders. Well to make a long story short, I applied it and didn't work so I told him. I thought he was going to send me cylinders for the 2 heads but instead, he sent them for all 10 of the heads.
I was amazed at that kind of service.

If you're going to turn this into a Rich thread, leave a LOT of room for my comments
