Title: ROQ Squeegee Insertion
Post by: cclaud3 on January 08, 2020, 02:47:23 PM
The pink/stock material swells gradually over a few weeks time.
This makes then a bit more difficult to put together. I can assemble one in 45-60 seconds including tightening the bolts; however, I've had multiple employees who still struggle and take up to 6 minutes per squeegee to put back together.

Do other ROQ shops struggle with squeegee insertion? We frequently change out our rubber. Our triple duro stuff is a piece of cake.

I feel most of this is them trying to milk the clock. If ROQ made a QWIK clamp system like M&R I'd just get it and be done with it.

We built a jig to hold our squeegees that make it pretty easy to swap them out, but we don't switch them that often.

I think danny said he was trying to get ROQ to build a quick clamp type thing.

If you purchase Pliger rubber or Serilor rubber you will not have any issues with swelling. Also what are you cleaning them with?

Working on this right now. Basically setting up a vice as a jig to quickly press the rubber in. And then hold it while we sand the corners down.
Will show it as soon as it’s a little more dialled. But I’ll say that even just the vice is a huge step up from spreading the tools and hammering the rubber in.

One other thing we did back in the day before it was easier to get the right size rubber, we would use some ink degradent as a lubricant and it would help slide the rubber in much easier....

That statement is LOADED with plenty of opportunity for jokes. 13 hr day, and I got nothing.  :P

I have wanted to crack so many jokes on this thread...

We have started using a little silicone on the holder and that helped tremendously.  It's really only the ends we have a problem with.

Good, at least I can rule out my favorite comment from tech support: "you're the only one experiencing this issue that I can think of".
