Title: Older MHM Synchroprint S
Post by: Sbrem on November 20, 2018, 02:52:21 PM
Our press, though getting old, does a great job for us, but in the last few weeks, (actually a few times over the years, but months apart) we've had an intermittent problem with the plates wanting to index with the print heads down, needless to say you lose a few shirts instantly.  After talking with the printer, to get the chain of events right, either in pedal or in auto mode, it's supposed to be that it indexes, head down/print/head up and index and so on. What happens is that the heads are going down, and the indexer spinning at the same time. We'e looking for some educated guesses, we've spoken with Hirsch, and they really can't help...

Don't know the model but it sounds to me to lose the foot pedal mode and train op to work in auto. Lose one or the other and things may smooth out

not sure about your problem ,  or where you are in the USA but this seems like a steal of a deal if you were into MHM presses, its about 1.5 hrs from Detroit

Sounds to me like some kind of proximity switch issue. There must be one sending a signal mid print stroke or once it signals to start indexing. Some times its the littlest thing causing problems.

Well, after being forced to move earlier in the year, and still recovering from the costs, we aren't ready for a new press financially, we're always ready as far wishlists go...

Steve

that is our press in the picture in the link.

I'd skip Hirsch completely and go direct to MHM.

If you can get Rodney or Robert (Hirsch techs) on the phone, I can't recommend them highly enough. Those guys are fantastic and really know their stuff. Probably have to call up Hirsch to file a tech support ticket.

We've spoken with Rodney many times, great guy, but doesn't know the machine admittedly. But he has solved a number of issues for us though, just not this one.

Steve,

How old is the Syncroprint? Just curious..  We installed two new S-Type Extremes last winter and absolutely love them. Looking to get many many years out of them.

Before we had an 6 year old E-Type, and the step up is incredible. Also, now all the MHM's (to my knowledge) have mechanical stops when you zero out the heads which makes registering super easy.. every screen is 2-3 minutes/ 1-3 adjustments max. Plenty of screens line up with any tweaks needed. It's good stuff.

I'd say it's 15 years old. It has been a great press for our needs, simple one colors,  to real and sim process. And the Film Placement Unit for us film users is a great idea, it was the final tipping point when we bought it.
