Is there a standard for cap embroidery height? our machine will only do a max of 2", I know I've seen embroidery on caps that is way more than that 2 1/2 on most, might be time for us to upgrade our old single head and what would be a mid range machine that would sew at a larger height?
-
2.2 seems pretty standard for max height on hats.
-
2.5 is max. we stick to 2 on round logos unless we want them to look like ovals.
-
I can sew 2.5 on our ooooold Tajima made in the sixties. Any bigger than that
you might see is most likely a cut and sew where the front panels are embroidered
before the hat is assembled.
-
Taller embroidery you have seen may be offshore custom caps...If you have 3 to 5 weeks and your client wants multiple locations this is the only way to go...

Yep this is a military cap with helicopter's on both sides and a round 2.5 logo on the front with logo's on the bill which I know was cut and sew, very nice job who ever did it. I'm learning alot so on our next machine I'll know what questions to ask besides the price LOL

We have caps made in China that are embroidered on flat material before the cap is sewn.

There used to be a couple of cut and sew hat companies just north of here
in Waycross Georgia until the cheap Chinese operations put them out of biz.

2.25 on our Chinese machine. Every time we go 2.5 we have issues at the top. I just wish we could get closer to the bill but it is what it is.
