Title: Crating for shipping
Post by: TH Apparel on January 10, 2017, 07:31:32 AM
Selling an old manual press...buyer asked about crating and shipping.  Never had to crate anything before.  What is the procedure for something like this?  OR is this something one of the shipping companies will do(sure it would be a lot cheaper to make our own crate though).  We have plenty of pallets available for the press to sit on...

Key is to crate it so nothing can move around.  Make sure the base is very well supported on the right part of the pallet too - if it is only on the 3/8" board the legs / whole thing could break through that top part of the pallet.

The base isn't done in the picture attached - 2x4's were built up around it and it was secured so it couldn't spin too.

Just make your own out of a pallet + 2x4's and screws imo, only takes 20-30 minutes.
