Title: Stock PMS color list
Post by: T Shirt Farmer on November 12, 2016, 11:26:13 AM
Anyone like to share what there stock/master list of PMS ink colors to inventory is, I would like to have a fixed list and then charge for colors outside of that. I would think 100 to 150 would be more than enough selection for the bulk of customers.

My library of mixed ink is out of control many are really old and probably only used one time never to be used again.

My stock list was always the base mixing colors of the system being used.

Be it pigments or finished ink.. the color in the bucket is the color on the stock list.

Anything else was a mixed color.

I received the Rio mixing kit yesterday (finished system) and was about to open the colors up and compare them to a color chart to see if I could get away with using these as my stock colors (16 colors including black & white) with the possibility of adding a couple other colors and was wondering if this would be odd to do.

Double check your cost per gallon for the mixing system - then check the cost per gallon for a comperable shade.

Mixing system colors are typically higher cost due to more production time.

Looks like the Rio mixing colors are about a dollar or two less than Epic by the gallon.

*sorry for the hijack Farmer*

I've been wanting to settle out a standard color set here for years.  What I realize is that your best/brightest/cleanest colors will not be PMS matches typically but colors that lean on the strengths of your pigment system.

Which of course makes it a little tougher to communicate to other professionals what your color set is and might necessitate printing off swatch sets....I probably over think things.

485c is a great PMS bright red for starters.
