Well the title lied. You have to buy $180 worth of chemicals...then once you use them...you come out with this!
Flip the 5er on its side, cut an 8" hole, drop your sock into it with whatever micron you want. Then you have dual action filtering. Sock catches most of it, then you have about 2" at the bottom where water pools and solids sink.
Literally thought of this last night and took me 5 minutes this morning. Threw it under our post expose rinse out station.

Honestly, this is brilliant! I've been looking for a way to do this without spending too much money and this is the simpliest way to do it.
My main concern in pipe clogging (i'm not on a septic system) and this will most likely solve my problem without spending a lot of money.

you do realize that old mesh can make a great filter as well...it's what it's made for. I reuse old screens to filter stuff around here.

The spicket is also threaded if anyone needs to run some hose to their drain.
The 8" filter socks are about 5 bucks each on ebay, or 2.75 each if you order in quantity from eaton. When they plug up just toss them. You can get sub 50 micron socks and filter much better than mesh.

They are also called filter bags if that makes it any easier to find.
The Eaton site shows a wide variety, so perhaps Lucky can tell us his specific choice.

I dug through my emails and I found it...I need a rep for this haha. Took me a while to find this company, glad I did. You have to order by the Case if I remember correctly, if you need one or two socks T&J printing supply has them for $5, but also ebay has them for about the same shipped.
