My screen cleaning person decided he could not work here anymore. Since he has school and a 1 year old son and another job.
Well to my dismay he stole my change jug. At least 100-150 bucks.. It is him because it's only ever him and me. I have no idea how...had to be when I took a leak, because I never leave him alone except for that time.
This happened and then getting ripped off this last winter big time by an employee is making me very weary of everyone.. well guess i have to get a camera now...this is bullcrap

You uh, got a prison nearby or something?

LOL... Thats a good one. All kidding aside I just canned a chick for this. Money came up missing out of my desk drawer. Shirts started ending up missing out of orders. Caught them punching back in late and writing down a different time. I know I should have a time clock but if I cant trust them they dont need to be here. That employee is now gone and what do you know nothing is missing anymore. F'N people!! I always tell an employee if you want something just ask. Odds are I would give it to them anyways. Thieves piss me off.

Those change jugs can be very tempting....

You can always take everyone with you when you take a leak. ;) It's frustrating I'm sure. Since you can't do much about it now, I always think, well, they must have needed it more than me.

nothing like rolling up stolen nickles and dimes. . . .for a solid week. . . .of all the things easier to steal and make more money on, this douche took at jug weighing 50 pounds. . .of fking pennies. . .. I'll tell you what, i will give you the 150.00 if you let me confront him about it. . .I'll be nice, really I will. . . I won't even touch him. . .I will use my inside voice and everything, I'll even put it up on youtube. . .I would break his left arm and right leg.
I tell the guys here the same thing, you want something -ask- chances are you will get it. If you steal it, you just lost your job. whatever it is you want is not worth more than your job. . don't be stupid. .

I find most jugs tempting

This isn't quite the same, but maybe it will make you smile. My son's girlfriend's mom works at a large discount store. She was going through their security videos and found something a bit odd. "Sally" was punching in at the right time, and also punching out at the right time. Only problem was, as soon as "Sally" punched in, she left the store. Of course she always made it back to punch out right on time. This went on for months and no one said anything. There's more than one thief at that store. Sad. True.

Wow, that is interesting. In a huge place like that, nobody would notice.
-
I didn't say nobody noticed, I said nobody said anything.
-
Last few times I thought someone stole something from me I'd find it a few weeks later and feel like a douche bag.

HAHA! Yeah, I'm pretty guilty of that. I'll look for something and think ARRRRRH! that danged son of mine moved my _________ or someone took my _____________. Come to find out, I had it all along (most times). The others times, I just have not caught myself moving it. LOL.

had a guy steal $1500.00 in clothes, plus the time he took to decorate them.
Found it Janurary 2. Called him in, showed him the proof of what he did to me, showed him my ball bat and told him he had 24 hrs. to pay me back, cash!
I got the money. Hated to be such a pr!ck, but I work hard.

thanks dude...I'm buying a safe...if I would have just done that in the beginnning I would have been ahead...
It's a one room shop, usually you think everything is cool...Oh well....

I've heard that unreal printing deals on Ebay and Craigslist are often printed on stolen shirts from the employer.
-
I had my car washed at a local car wash and then later SWORE they stole a $550 microphone out of the back of it. Kept getting the run around from them and they never would talk to me about it. I was getting fuming mad about it (with no true recourse)... then my wife and buddy call me up while they are packing up our stuff to move. They found it in a box in my office.
Oops!
I was still mad at the way they treated me... I just hope no one got their ass reamed out over it. :)

Had a lady who helped me out from time to time. I knew she kind of had it rough so I always gave her shirts and some hoodies and even some extra cash from time to time. I guess she thought since I was generous, I wouldn't mind of she started taking Sh!t. I found some missing hoodies in her truck one day. Expensive bitches at that.... That was her last day.

This one is always fun to tell. Had an employee break in one night after hours and stole the company van (not before filling it up with collegiate merch)
Here's the fun part.........It had the company logo wrapped all around it.
Didn't take Columbo to find him down the road in a strip mall parking lot selling shirts
-
I know a guy that did the same thing. he would order stuff on his boss's account and then sew it at night and sell it for less than the shirts cost blank.
-
Well, we haven't noticed any real merchandise walking out the door but we've been noticing lots of toilet paper and the plastic silverware we buy for the employees to use during lunch is disappearing much faster than it should. I know someone is stealing the $hit tickets because I've been putting new rolls on only to find the entire roll missing sometimes within an hour.
-
I think the glock sitting on top of the dryer is a pretty good deterrent, cause I aint had any problems. I wish it was a deterrent to tearing my mesh, but it doesnt seem to be working.
-
we had a friend of an employee come in and ask if there was any job openings. the friend was wearing tour merchandise that we had printed the day before, and the band hadnt received the merch yet.
needless to say the employee was fired, and the friend was not hired.
another time - some random guy stole a hoodie from the storage area, we called the cops. after the suspect was apprehended, the cop came in and said that the guy shat himself during the chase.
although not exactly stealing but we had some employees throw away squeegees and floodbars because they didnt want to clean them.
-
We were robbed at gun point in our old place, two dudes snuck in the back must have figured we were retail or something, they did not leave with much and got caught for their troubles. Idiots

I was leaving for lunch one day when I drove by a side door and busted a recent hire throwing rolls of TP and PT into his car... what a turd. However, back to the subject itself, I was a bit guilty when I was young, I stole some comic books a couple of times, and some other inexpensive items until my conscience caught up with me. I used to borrow equipment from my boss in the music store without his knowledge, and bring it back. Until he saw a photo of us playing and saw an amp in the picture. Caught a lot of poop for that, let me tell ya, well deserved of course...

We are installing security cameras. The employees I have now are pretty trustworthy though. I can't deal with people I don't trust...not in my personal or business life.
I had a guy walk in the front door, and walk right up to me while I was sitting down and say(with his hands in his pockets).."I'm not right today." Talk about a rush.
-
The subject of whether employers have anything to say about working on the side has come up.
I have often heard that one reason some bosses don't like (or permit) moonlighting or running your own similar business is the increased risk of supply theft.

Stop shooting it! :p

I think my teenage daughter does the same thing with the forks in our house! :)

Sounds like a recent problem I've had with mesh. We were busting at least one screen a week for a few months straight. I got so pi$$ed one afternoon I threatened to start taking the cost of the new mesh panels out of everyone's paychecks, including mine just to be fair, and we've only busted one screen in 2 months so far.

That doesn't violate labor laws, I swear. ;D

A few years back I had a employee who worked for me for several years.. My number one guy, trusted him with keys, helped him get into his house, bought him a vehicle, on and on. One day he came in and told me he had lung cancer and needed kemo treatments monthy but he had to pay like 835.00 out of pocket each time and his medicad would pick up the rest. he said he was going to die without the treatments. so for 3 months srtaight i would give him the money. He would even call me the day after(he had to have it off) barley able to talk, really sick sounding etc. well one weekend i was supposed to go out of town and decided not to and went up to the shop on saturday and there he was printing orders on the side. i fired him out of anger.I felt so darn bad I called his wife to explain and tell her i was sorry, you know with the cancer and all,I hope the kids are ok , i'm really feeling bad. then she goes on to tell me WHAT CANCER? come to find out he lied about everything, there was no cancer and she had kicked him out weeks befor. A couple days later he showed back up wearing brass knuckles and was chasing me around the shop as i was calling 911. he left and they arrested him about 30 min. later. people are crazy.

good reason to at least have a crowbar or two...

We prefer the shorter version that has a slide and a trigger on it.

agreed, but I did say at least. Still there is something really satisfying about the crowbar (don't get me wrong, I'm talking last resort here, and hopefully never having to actually do it)
