Title: Adding some smell good!
Post by: TCT on February 14, 2015, 11:29:07 AM
Think we briefly touched on this a while back, but I cant find the thread now....

Anyone ever put any concentrated fragrances or know if you can add some to discharge bases or whites? The CCI stuff and Rutland I don't really mind the smell, sweet almost. But we have ran some Magna this week after talking to them at their booth in Long Beach for a while. REALLY like some of the changes they made, but without a doubt the Magna stuff has the most "chemical" smelling discharge.

My wife is in to all that natural organic and coconut BS, figured I could score some concentrate smell from her. Or I could just try to make a potion with eye of toad(you are safe Frog) unicorn tail, and troll sweat... ;D

I was told (by someone who has been using discharge much longer than me) to use a bit of the liquid from glade plug in refills.

I have not tried it myself.

I know that this would appeal to Brad Alpers

This place may be a go-to place for this type of thing in general

Is the Matsui aroma ink meant to sent the ink long term, like the Durasent inks? That is cool and definitely has it's applications, but my main objective is to alter the smell when the ink actually discharges. The current heavy chemical smell can get to be a bit much.

adding the Glade plug in stuff, I wonder if the ink would retain the scent after discharging? I don't know if an end user would like to walk around smelling like a pine tree  ;D...try adding a touch of cologne to the ink...I know you have some of that on your desk for when the ladies walk in :P

The stuff that makes other brands of discharge smell good is an additive for just that purpose.
If other brands add it I'd assume it'd be okay to add to Magna. Probably a tradeoff
in there though, viscosity in the least, and maybe something more if there's a reason
Magna isn't using it.

that is genius, but how did I get sucked into that? ;)

i know that when I paint I put some vanilla extract into the latex(not really latex anymore) paint and it really knocks down the stink.

Try it with discharge, it might help.

Andy, we printed thousands of bacon scented shirts for a ball team in Lehigh Valley, the IronPigs, but only on Friday afternoons.

Isn't a shame that you won't find commercials like that aired in the US any more?  SMH

Forget the smell good stuff, most of it smells as bad as the discharge ink itself.  Try a single component formaldehyde neutralized discharge ink from GDI Screen Inks.  It is finally on the market.  No bad smell in the shop or on the printed shirts.  We ran a bunch of it and everybody in the shop was looking to see who had the popcorn.  I didn't think it smelled like popcorn but if the crew does and keeps running I'm
happy.  Atlas Screen Supply is carrying a private label called Ready Charge.
