Title: Emb Startup / Where & What to buy
Post by: Get Shirts on December 30, 2014, 11:13:06 AM
We'll be getting our embroidery department up and running over the next week or so and I need to stock up on supplies, but I'm not sure where to buy from & what exactly I should buy.

Our Baruden rep turned us onto the Embroidery Store who is close (we're in Southwest Virginia), but what vendors are you guys using?

As far as the types of thread & backing, what are you guys using?  The embroiders that we outsource to use either Madeira or Robison Anton, so that's what I'm familiar with.  But I'm sure, just like with ink, there are many manufactures out there.  Backing, I understand that we'll need different backing for different applications, but any suggestions there would be greatly appreciated.

What else am I forgetting?  I just want to make sure we're set up to roll!

Thanks,
Greg

I use Madeira thread and backing. The only backing that is not Madeira is performance backing that I buy from Sew Many Parts store.

Do not forget to get cap backing in the roll or pre-cut.
Also, if you can, get Mighty Hoops. I refuse to hoop with regular hoops since I started using Mighty Hoops.
Good luck
