Title: Insane Apparel donation drive comments
Post by: blue moon on October 14, 2014, 02:24:29 PM
here is the kickstarter campaign mentioned above. PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY HERE. We are starting our own campaign going directly to his PP account. This is just to see and read what happened.

please note, the kickstarter campaign will probably not happen*. We need to send money directly to his PayPal address which I am working on getting.

pierre

*kickstarter does not release the funds unless the goal is met. Campaign was started by Keith's employees and the goal was set too high so even the commitments there will NOT be reaching Insane Apparel.

What about equipment? I have some stuff here that is really really nice that I could probably sell for a lot of money but I would look into donating it to him....

Just a thought

Danny,

email Keith directly and find out what he needs. Use his PP address. I don't know enough to answer that question. That is very generous of you, thank you very much!

Just sent him some money......If I wasn't so damn slow right now it would have been more.

Tough deal all around, I can't imagine coming in and seeing that.

Another thought I had was I have lots of blank inventory of shirts, hoodies, etc..... I would be willing to donate some of that as well to help him out. I'll just shoot Keith an email when I can get a minute

That really sucks. I have no idea who this guy is but if it happened to me I would hope everyone would help.

"Screened Gear, you have sent $200.00 USD to Insane Motorsports."

Keith I hope you the best.

Why? They can't just donate like the rest of us? They need special goals to be met before their tight asses can help a guy out. F-them. Donate what you can and stop playing games when some one needs it.

Lets really help this guy out. Anyone have a contact for marketing at Gildan. Have them kick in some money and put this guy on a commercial. If this is not giving back to the community what is.

Actually that was my idea. I thought it would give us an incentive to do better. They are matching what we raise up to certain amount.  This way they are not committing to thousands of dollars while we raise few hundred.

Please don't hold this against them as one of the companies is matching up to $5k. That is very, very generous and far from playing games.

This is different then how it was first said, or I misunderstood it. If they are matching up to $5000 then they are going to donate no mater what the total reaches (max $5000 each). What was said is they are not donating unless we reach $5000. That is very different and why I got a little pissed. I would like to go on the record that i am taking back my F-them and giving them all a personal thank-you.

Sorry about that, companies that committed so far will donate no matter what, but more we raise, more they will kick in. 5 or so companies are in so far, I expect another 5-10 to join in. If we raise 5k the matching will probably bring in another $10K. That's what I was trying to say.

Quick update

Keith's had no idea what was going on and he called me this afternoon to say thank you. He went out to the doctors and when he got back there were all these emails from paypal out of nowhere! He said he was getting depressed as no help was coming from his inner circle and just as he was getting down ppl he does not know have stepped up!

Thank you very much to everybody who helped out. Please send what you can, even $10 will help! Unless you post here no amounts will be disclosed as we all do according to what is available to us.

Know all too well what it's like to lose everything overnight. (shop fire in 2008 )
Also know how well people in this industry can step up, help and pay it forward to complete strangers when the need arises, after being on the receiving end of it.

Hey everyone, I just got another supplier onboard to donate/help and waiting on hearing back from another one! We need to keep spreading the word to take advantage of the full match for this guy!
I posted on a few facebook screen printing groups, but if you guys have other ideas or resources, do it! Let's get the word out!

UPDATE-

Ryonet is donating a store credit in the amount of $2000!

Pierre- Do you happen to have a recent total of what has been raised that will receive the matching funds? Lets make sure we get to $5K! I don't even know this guy, but I personally would probably implode if something like this happend to my shop.

Also, is or would Keith be willing to identify his I'm assuming past insurance company? I know I would like to know for my own protection, in the event we had the same company I would like to pull my policy if they are going to play games like this(yes, I understand all insurance companies play games and try to get out of paying up).

I'm going to donate next week assuming I can get paid for some recent work (big check lost in the mail of all things...UGH).  I'd also love to know which insurance company, since it seems like this is exactly the scenario insurance is for, and being dicked out of your lifes work on a technicality is terrifying

Pierre's thread-starting post explains the whole deal. It started as a Kickstarter campaign.

Good work TCT. I feel the same way. For a guy to have insurance, pay money every month to give him the piece of mind that if a "SH!T" storm hits his company he will be ok. Then only to find out the can get out of it when something does happen. I donated not because what happened to him. I donated because he did everything right to protect himself and got screwed. I still want gildan or another company to use this guy in a commercial and say the insurance company name.

The total should be real close if Ryonet is donating $2000 but that's product so does that count? I mean with his markups that is really only about a $200 donation>>>LOL.

Hello everyone, thank you so much for all the support and help from donations. From the vendor credits to just having people comment with kind words. Pierre put it best last week when we talked, most people that don’t own a business  think were all rich, make a ton of money, what's the big deal insurance will cover it. Its been a rough couple of months but I see light at the end of the tunnel. Again thanks you everyone for everything this is just the beginning I have to make a list of everyone and give them proper thanks you on the forum just wanted to say how much I appreciate the support.
