Anyone?
We can make just about any white print the way we want, as long as we can get it to flood right,
and keep flooding right. Every white I've tried lately climbs the squeegee like no other, and we end up having
to put like 3 gallons in a screen to keep it in the ink well. Not to mention speed. We can print white pretty damned
fast in one stroke, but have to slow the flood way down to get it to behave.
-
Triangle Phoenix white at a slightly warmer than room temperature...floods excellent, prints even better
Close second is Wilflex Solar white....
..for MY shop..
-
In our shop:
Wilflex Quick white floods pretty good for us, assuming the shop is warm. If it's cold, it takes a while to get it working nicely.
we've also been playing around with Rutland Snap White, and the sample we got seems to flood really nice as well.
-
WM plastic White bright prints real good in our shop very creamy and covers good
D

Sweet, thanks guys. Triangle isn't real easy to get out here, but I've always heard good things.
Wilflex only comes from Midwest who we don't order from too often, but would be worth it for a
white that will stay in the effing well.

You might try some stuff from One Stroke. Their Production white for poly is great and they have so many good white inks to choose from. I'm trying out some of their other cotton whites next week like their #26. I'll let everyone know how I like it. One thing I really like about the One Stroke inks I've tried so far is that they aren't so short bodied and haven't climbed the squeegee. But I've only used all of their poly whites at this stage.

We've never had a gripe about Quick White. I tell the crew to run plasti floods as slow as the index, i.e. as slow as possible without slowing the press down. We've never used anything but winged floods on the auto either so that may have something to do with it.
Compared to HSA white ink any of the plasti is like a dream....
-
Midwest out here has never heard of Wilflex Solar.
Quick used to be my standby but it went to like $450 a five when Epic came out,
it's come down some but not enough to make up for it's qualities unfortunately, but we'll see.
Midwest says the sell more Bright Tiger than anything else? (I tried it once, wasn't blown away)
When I first started One Stroke only sold via Ebay auctions or something like that, totally weird
and certainly made me look elsewhere. Maybe give them another try.
Gonna try the Snap for now as that's what my favorite supplier carries. Thanks again ya'll.
-
solar white was good for us, but it lacks opacity. Legacy took its place for the time being.
-
Get Quick for Nazdar. It's far cheaper than that for us, by well over a hundo from what you wrote, and we don't even do a ton of purchasing from sourceone. I don't know what's wrong with Midwest but something is def wrong with them.
Tiger I think is a cotton only white. We roll with a single, low bleed white. Just takes the stress out of it. Costs a touch more but worth it to me.
-
We don't do a ton of plastisol but Rutland Max White which is a low bleed. Of course any plastisol printing we do is on a clear discharge underbase. Prints and rolls, rolls and prints. Then again our shop being in New Orleans can get hot. Like hot hot. Weird it doesn't affect our water base and it makes printing plastisol easier.

I have been buying triangle from anthem in sf .... By far my fav white, we use on blends and cotton fabric.
-
That is weird that Triangle is not bigger in California. The plastisols are made in New Jersey and they have the main distribution facility in California as well as the main company of Triangle which leans more toward industrial coatings is based in the Bay Area of California.

Its because it sucks.....:)

Wanted to follow up on this. Thanks everyone for the push back to Quick. It really is da' best.
Dealing with Midwest is not the best. In looking for Solar white which Midwest didn't carry, I asked the price
of Quick, got a quote of $290 something. This was with them having my customer number.
Called back to order, gave them customer number, got a price of $350 something. I said try again and got a
price of $270. WTF!!!!I understand rewarding clients that spend with you, I really do. But if you are going to play that
game you really really need to be consistent in it and not just throwing out prices willy nilly.
But yeah, Quick has been killing it.

Maybe when Nazdar Source One finishes their new website (how many years has it been now?) everyone will get consistent awesome pricing...but I doubt it!
-
Yeah, Wilflex is on lock here on the west coast. Source One or Midwest....
-
I'm just going to call a spade a spade here, Midwest operates like total dirtbags. Every time I'm forced to order from them I get ripped off whether it's on pricing, shipping, glaringly incorrect information about products or getting expired or incorrectly stored product that doesn't work. They once even billed us at over MSRP for some cap film. I said screw 'em long ago and we're all Nazdar for the Wilflex. I think Nazdar should move in on Midwest's turf and get a NW shipping location going.
Glad you got it back on track with Quick. I think it's my favorite plastisol in the shop and it's been our white for everything but bleeders/100% poly since QCM went under.
-
Yeah I asked our sales person from Midwest for pricing on certain items that I already knew there list prices were and was quoted higher than what the standard price was. They operate on the get as much as you think you can out of them pricing model.

Rutland White Plus discharge. Come on you knew that was coming ;)

On shirts that discharge (heck and even some that don't discharge well :) ), that's our FAVORITE white discharge ink now...
works great, and seems to be WAY better than the CCI we were using before...
-
That's correct although I suspect CCi (maybe others?) is on the case. I propose the name Arctic Fox white.
-
I dunno guys, I still prefer CCI's white to Rutland's...
-
I have used the Rutland, CCI and Matsui interchangeably the last few months and the Matsui is brighter here. I keep trying the other two just to make sure I'm not losing my mind but the Matsui outperforms by a fairly large margin every time.
-
Maybe we can all agree on what the worst white we've used is?
For discharge it's IT here. Plastisol would be Union's Diamond white.
-
I found the Matsui to be the brightest as well, though I have started using the CCI more due to the longer dry-in time and general creaminess out of the can. The matsui always needs printgen and water added or it starts gumming up real quick (in my shop). The SP-1400 seems to have solved my screen breakdown issues I was having with the HVP as well with the CCI.

Matsui was brighter for me too. CCI 2nd, Union last. Didn't try Rutland but think it's the same as Union? I went with CCI as it's almost as good as Matsui and it was easier to get in 5 gal and cheaper.
Back on topic though, the only white I have that floods well is Miami smooth, superior is a little stiff unless it's 95+ degrees.
