and the question is................. what kind of problems will I encounter if I were to remove the board ring on an 8/10 gauntlet?
I'm sure the removal part won't be that difficult but I am more concerned on the putting back together and having it still work like it should part of it.

I'm not that familiar with these machines, but the way the guy that owns it explained it to me there is a large ring about 9 feet across that holds the platens on. I am limited on entrance size and 9' isn't going to work. I figured with all the M&R people on here someone might have some info on it.

With the information given limited help is available. Either a serial number or model or year manufactured will be needed to help. If this is an older Gauntlet Series 1 you will need a tech to reassemble and calibrate the press before you can even turn it on. If newer style you can disassemble and reassemble without causing registration issues but the pallets will need to be split properly to make sure the print is in the center of the pallet. Best choice? Hire an M&R tech to reinstall the press.

take it off, you need to have a tech register the press anyway so take the heads off, the ring and each pallet arm....don't skimp -hire a tech.

We have a Gauntlet 8/10 series II manufactured in 2000, the ring is approximately 5' diameter.

+1, if you're asking this question what you will learn from a good tech will be worth at least what you pay.
I tried this years ago at another shop when we moved an early nineties Gauntlet, and in retrospect I'm amazed I got it printing PFP one colors OK with what I knew at the time...

and from what I'm gathering is that it is possible to take it apart and make it work properly with the assistance of a tech... Thanks to all.

That series will need a tech to install properly. The registration bearings come off with the arms and the install is much more difficult than the newer ones.

call our service department and talk to any of the techs. You will use a squeegee in head 1 but they should explain how you get there.
