Why can't I change the color in this image?

I have a PDF file that I imported into coreldraw x5 (the design was created in illustrator by someone else)....and it is a vector image...one part of the image I can not change the color to a pantone color..i can move it...resize it....but I just cant change the color..currently it is RGB white when I put the eye drop over it....but in the bottom left corner where it shows the fill and pen stroke, its all "X"'s ..when chosen it is showing up as not even having a color or even showing as a pen stroke....the rest of the image I can manipulate as I wish...but this one part I cant. I copied and pasted just the part im talking about.

Check to see if the object is actually a symbol, not a curved object.  If so just right click and I believe it is "revert to object" which will make it editable.

In Illustrator double click on it several times to get to it. You can get to it in isolation mode after three double clicks on the same object. Worked for me and I was able to change the color. Using Cs5 here.

  I'm using Corel 12 and I did not have any trouble at all. Try to import not using
the "all files" option but import using the .pdf filter.

In Illustrator CS5, I had to release the "clipping mask" a couple of times to gain access to the vectors. Sorry, I don't run CD... I moved the orange background away, and filled the bow tie with black, saved as an .eps. Maybe this will work... whoops, can't attach an .eps here, sent you a PM...

 I imported it into corel x5 and the object comes in as a symbol. 99% of the time all you have to do is right click it and select revert to objects. In this case it would not revert. The easiest way to deal with it as grab the smart fill tool and fill it in. Then you have your own exact object.

Corel X6 - It's a symbol. I right clicked on it and selected Symbol Manager and from there you can change color or create object. There were 6 pieces to the symbol so I welded them together for you and saved as X5.
