Older Challenger questions

We are adding a second auto into our shop (once we find one) and stumbled upon an older challenger. Now I know what everyone says, to have a tech inspect, etc., but my question is:

With these older challengers, what are some things I should be looking for to determine if this press is in good shape or not? What are some red flags that I should look for?

I was truly expecting to buy a newer press, but this setup that I've found "seems" to be a pretty good deal.

Also, has anyone heard of m&r building a press with heavier gauge steel for "extreme output"?

If you are buying a series 1 Challenger you are wasting your money no matter how good of shape it is in. The parts are becoming scarce and expensive. The plc in most cases is no longer available and the parts we used to make thousands of on a single setup now are done one off and are quite costly to manufacture. We never made a heavier gage steel press as all of our presses are heavy gage already.

Now that Rich was honest good info, and not once did you try and up sale him to a new press, unlike another company I dealt with.

Look for at least a series 2 and check our records for service info. We take trades and M&R certify our used with a warranty when we sell them. I saw a Sportsman 10 being photographed at Beacon Funding. Might want to check with them.
