Foot Pedal....10/24
« on: October 24, 2013, 02:43:01 PM »

I have been searching for a foot pedal so my screen guy can  use his foot to actuate the pressure washer.
Coming up empty in all my searches. Any one know where to find one of these things?

John

Always thought something like this would be cool, this reminded me to buy one and find out!  I don't like the idea of having electrical cords on the washout floor...although I do have a spare clipper switch here.

Why not just buy a pressure washer that comes on only when you pull the trigger, I use to have one that ran all the time, was a pain in the booty.  Or you can install a switch to keep it off the floor just my two cents.

Get the air actuated one from McMaster, make sure the switch can handle the load.
OSHA doesn't like electricity near water very much.

This is an important thing to have. Left on, many pressure washer pumps will fail after ten
minutes or so even with an unloader.

The auto-on switches are cool, but can cycle your pump too often, IE spray, stop for 1 second,
spray again. Bad for motor and pump. They have also been the first point of failure on my old cheap
pressure washers.

My $70 piece of crap 1500psi pressure washer from Lowe's has lasted over 2 years with daily use and has only been unplugged and turned off once when we moved locations.  Worth every penny.

We have the same Lowes crap washer going on two years.

We slide our wand into a piece of 2" PVC pipe when not in use. Haven't installed it yet but picked up a harsh environment prox switch to mount to the pipe and will wire it to the washer so when the wand is put away it cuts the power to the washer.

I don't think you want to leave that on.

If something goes wrong that would be a bad mess that you don't want and could have avoided with a simple "off" and turning the water off (assuming you don't do that).  Ask some of these guys about flooded shops!

When I mentioned pumps failing, it was the commercial kind that run constantly unless turned off, which I'm assuming the OP
is referring to as well.

While we're on the subject, we got a 3000 psi unit in a while ago. Chem use has dropped dramatically. Particularly haze remover.
