Question for Rich(244)
« on: October 28, 2013, 11:36:03 AM »
Really this question can be for anyone that knows what they are talking about, but Rich having the foresight and being bright enough to contribute here, I thought he would be the best to answer.
Rich, first thanks for being a part of the forum it is SUPER nice to have a company represented so well on here!
My question is about gas dryers. You guys(M&R) say your gas dryers are the most efficient to run. Well turns out Interchange, S.Roque, and Adelco all make the same claim. I was wondering how you guys come to the conclusion? I am not asking for proprietary information or a how to, just more of a "why" or "how" do you guys come to that statement. I am not trying to rail you here, I just haven't been able to get a solid answer from anyone on this! Which seems odd, if everyone is claiming it, one would think there is a reason behind it. Rich you just seem to be the most honest, knowledgeable and transparent "salesman"(if you will) out there.

I am about 90% decided on which dryer we are going to get at Long Beach, but I just don't feel as well informed as I did when buying a new press. Right now the M&R dryer isn't my #1, but it is in the top 2 ;) So ANY insight or knowledge I/the board could get would be great!

Thanks again for participating on the boards!
Alex

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

The Sprint dryer is by far the most efficient dryer per unit in our industry and we guarantee it! Our dryers are the best insulated and the outer skin runs at ambient temperature. Our Sprint from a cold start will reach its operating temperature in 15 minutes but due to the construction and insulation will take a full 45 minutes to cool down and automatically shut off. That says a lot about how well insulated the unit is. Our dryer comes with a 100% money-back guarantee and if you have a competitor who would like to put one of theirs next to ours we would be delighted to do the comparison. We even have a portable gas meter we send out to customers so they can actually see how much gas a competitive unit uses. There are way too many reasons ours is better to write here. Feel free to call me and discuss all the features we offer on ours and I am sure we will move to your number one choice quickly!!

Thanks for responding so quickly! I will probably email you here shortly with some questions. But HOW does M&R know the Sprint runs more efficiently than others the exact same size?

We have sent our gas meter to at least 50 customers to get the consumption figures and compare them to ours. We also have data and letters from our customer base who bought the story on how their dryer was the most efficient and now through actual test have seen the truth. There are lots of people here who have our dryer. Ask them their actual cost to run our dryer. One that comes to mind is Jason@ High Voltage who got his last year. I think the only thing in his shop that runs on gas is the dryer but I may be wrong.

One obvious consideration is while one maker (whomever that ultimately is) is running more efficiently, the question of which is cheaper up front should come into play too.  For, if the supposedly less efficient dryer is cheaper up front, how many 8 hour days of running (or whatever standard you want to use) will it take for the "more efficient" dryer to be running to pay the difference for the "less efficient" dryer - and, also in the mix of consideration is if the made-up difference is spread out over many years for the efficient dryer to pay for itself, how negligible is it in comparison to how large of a gap there is between the upfront cost?  Is it more taxing to pay a difference of $10-$50 a month for gas, or $8k-$12k for the equipment up front?   Something worth considering.

However, if the "more efficient" dryer is the cheaper, then it's a no-brainer.

My new Mini Sprint is sitting on the dock waiting for me to have it dropped off. Having spoken to few others with other brands it was a no brainer.

Thanks Rich for coming through on the double dog dare to get it here as fast as you did. Hopefully it will be in and running in the next week. Dicking around with the gas company as we speak.

I bought a new sprint last October and it was the smartest investment I have made so far.

I've had my Mini Sprint for almost 1 year and love it.  During the summer it was the only thing in the shop running on gas.  With a 10 ft tunnel and averaging about 350 degrees my gas cost was right around $1 per hour.  Don't know if that helps anyone and I have never experienced another brand but I definately can't complain.
