Platens for onesies... 10/23
« on: October 23, 2013, 08:31:15 AM »
Hi Everyone...

Looking to outfit our Sportsman with smaller platens for onesies.
8" wide.. Sound about right? What size platens do any of you run for onesies?

We print light color onesies using a slight mist on the inside of the garment and
then place directly on regular platens for print. An added step that is a time waster, but gets the jobs done..
This method has lees than savory for mulit colors on darks..

Lots and lots of requests for dark color onesies.. Makes best sense to lay the cash out now and have these smaller
multi purpose platens from here on out... Thoughts on sizing?

John

Some use sleeve platens but 6" is best IMO. Action will make anything you want. Don't know if thats an M&R stock item

We do a ton of infant stuff. (LOVE doing snap crotch onesies!) going down to newborn size, we use 6'' wide. I guess you have to look at all the garments you may be doing.

Fellas...

After a revisiting my original though, 6" seems to be the optimal size.
Fitting onesies on an 8" and around the M&R lever setup would most likely  be problematic..
Stock item [p616] - if anyones asking.

Thanks.

I think 6" too, it's what we use. You have to figure for the depth as well, and 8" might make the 3-6 month stretch too much. 4"-5" designs as a rule (sort of)

Works for shorts, sweatpants, LCs on zip hoods and plackets, etc. I made these.........the notched part at the top is for printing multi on pockets

Tony, that's awesome.  I think an ideal multi use platen would be 6" x 22" with that pocket notch and a gap in the platen rubber top to drop the onesie snaps into.

We have 8", 10" and 12" sets on hand (having both 10" and 12" is a little redundant probably) and use the 8" for onesies but man, a 6" set like Tony's would be really nice to add to the quiver.  Putting this on the to get/to make list.
