Diamond cut sharpener

Hi what is the cost on a new Serilor  Diamond short cut ?   Have you seen any used and what were they going for. Thanks

ive only seen the very big ones, and they typically go for $800-1200

I think the new one is about $1300. They used to have them at the shows on a special for $999, but the price has gone up last few years. This is for the short one (2' or so).

I was seriously considering a 'Short-cut'--got a quote a couple years ago for 1,200 while they were at the show.  Last retail I saw for the short-cut was a bit over 1500, and it sharpens up to a 20" blade length.  Nice looking unit.

Of course, I think you can get a huge used automatic one for 4-5K with the bigger sharpening wheel, if you have the space and want to get fancy.
Got any 6' squeegees?

I can't believe the price of a squeegee sharpener, crazy when you consider exactly what they are made from.  No wonder most shops just buy new blades.

we bought ours for $800, and just recently i saw another go for $1200.

But we did just have to buy two new sharpening wheels. $600ea. YIKES

We bought a used 36" wide one for between 400-600.  Will start to pay off in a couple years.

I'd really like one just to accurately "hone" blades.  I don't see a point in actually spending the time sharpening up a super dull blade, just mark the bad edge, rotate, replace, whatever.  But I would like to polish up just to know all our blades are nice and crisp at all times, it can make a hell of a difference.

New blade about 1.30 an inch which is roughly $20

or 2.50 an inch for triple duro which is $40 for a blade

Takes less than 10 minutes to sharpen a side...which is then equal to half of a new blade essentially.

New blades do last a bit longer though but I don't see how the labor to sharpen a blade isn't worth it.  I guess if you are buying a new very expensive sharpener it might not be.

I scored the serilor diamond cut for $350 and is as new , does an excellent job sharpening and once again realized I should have looked at one years ago.

I agree, I'd jump on one in good condition for a good price.  I'll pay whatever in labor to ensure my printer has perfect, sharp blades going to press but I'm not going to sink thousands into the unit, it's just too basic to justify that.

ROI is pretty simple.  40 blades at $20 each to replace vs $1200 or so for a sharpener and replace  one fifth as often or better.
