M&R winged flood bars?

I will soon be buying a new Dback and i was thinking of upgrading the flood bars to all winged flood bars (not ink traps). I currently have some plastic add on wings on my Gauntlet that i use all the time. The plastic ones add about 1.5 inches to each side.  Does anybody use them on their Dback. How wide are they 17, 18 inches?

Sorry, I have no input on your question but I was wondering where did you get the wings for your Gauntlet?

They came with the press when i bought it used, i believe it was a first generation M&R ink trap (1995)? They are to many nooks and crannies in them. Takes a little longer cleaning. You also have to share the clamp with the flood bar.

The winged flood bars are great, but I actually prefer the ink traps. For me, they trap more of the ink. I use the wings for waterbase printing since they give less drag on the emulsion surface. For plastisol printing, inktraps all day for me. I have 20 pairs of them =)

we have booth the M&R winged floodbars and the action engineering floodbars.  M&R's are better for cleaning and easy of use.  the ink traps add too much time to set up. 

I would highly recommend them.

I am be upgrading to the wings. What width do you have 16 or 18" wide. I will be using 16" squeegees.

The wings work fine but if you want to keep all the ink where it should be use the traps.  We use the wing flood bar on secondary colours or colours on the far side of press but the ink traps for white or any colour that has a lot of coverage and you don't want running out at the edges.
Also we just switched to Ruland streetfighter ink and without traps that stuff would be impossible to use on an automatic.

We have three autos. Each auto almost always has white in the same two heads on each press. We use the ink traps on all the white screens. Also use manual clamps to hole them in place along with air clamps. As for winged, I like them, but our runs are usually noe long enough to warrant using them in colors. I do prefer the M&R over Action. Just my opinion. It's what works for us in our shop.

I'll add that the ones that Rich and Co make for my Anatol works just fine love them.

Winged floods work great for me on my dback, 16 inch floodbars with 16 inch squeegees.
